It was a draw but it felt like a victory. Juventus arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu on the 13th May 2015 knowing that the odds were in their favour. In the first leg of the Champions League semi-final they had beaten Real Madrid 2-1 and in the return match, Carlos Tevez walked out on the pitch wearing a blue shirt with a gold trim. On the opposite side there was Cristiano Ronaldo, who would later go on to win three Champions League titles under Zinedine Zidane's leadership. However it wasn't such a happy ending for the Portuguese star in 2015. A goal from Alvaro Morata saw the Italian champions claim a 1-1 draw to qualify for the final.
Tevez had played a crucial role in the first leg. The forward scored from the penalty spot and provided the assist for Juventus' second goal. Massimo Allegri's team were victorious in front of their home supporters. "I tried to do my best up front so the team was able to breathe. I played well today. I feel important and a player, when he feels important for the team, can bring so much to it," declared Tevez following the match.
However the forward already knew the stadium well. He's played at the Santiago Bernabéu on three occasions. The first time was with Manchester City on the 18th September 2012 in the group stage of the Champions League. Real Madrid won 3-2. Carlitos was a starter in a tough match for his side: they were leading 2-1 in the 85th minute but a couple of late goals from Cristiano and Karim Benzema saw Los Blancos turn it around to claim all three points.
It was on the 23rd October 2013 when Tevez next stepped out on the Bernabéu pitch but once again it ended in defeat. Real Madrid beat Juventus 2-1, also in the group stage, and it remains a stadium in which Tevez is yet to experience victory. Fernando Gago is the only other one of his teammates to have played at Real Madrid's home. This time Tevez will be hoping it's fourth time lucky as his team, Boca Juniors, take on River Plate in the second leg of the CONMEBOL Libertadores final.
