The CONMEBOL Libertadores final at El Monumental is less than 24 hours away as River Plate and Boca Juniors will battle it out in an historic Superclásico. Boca may have won the last two Argentina Superliga matches at El Monumental but it's been 27 years since they last claimed victory at that ground in the Libertadores.
On the 20th March 1991, Boca beat River 2-0 at El Monumental. Gabriel Batistuta scored both goals for the visitors, one from the penalty spot. At that time Batistuta was only 22 years old and this turned out to be his final year in Argentinian football. He would then move to Fiorentina and become a household name in world football.
