Copa Libertadores 2019 final: when is the first one-off decider in Copa history?

The 2019 Copa Libertadores will break new ground, as for the first time in the competition's history the winner will be decided in a single one-off final match.

Since 1960 the two finalists have faced off over two legs, with one game played at each team's home ground. But from next year onwards a neutral venue will play host to the decider.

The CONMEBOL committee met in Moscow three days before the Russia World Cup began to determine the date of the 2019 Copa Libertadores final. The game will be played on November 23, with the kick-off time still to be confirmed.

It is the same method used to determine the winner of the Champions League: one single game, at a neutral stadium and on a Saturday.

CONMEBOL are still to decide which city will be the venue for the final, a moment that will be historic for the Copa Libertadores.
